Spine dorsali (totale) : 7; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 10; Spine anali: 1; Raggi anali molli: 7; Vertebre: 25. This species is distinguished from its congeners by following set of features: D2 I,10; A I,7; pectoral fin 18; head and trunk entirely naked; anterior and posterior nostrils are short tubes; gill opening large and extends ventrally beyond the rear vertical of peropercle; infraorbital papillae are all longitudinal. Colouration when alive: body and head are creamy white to yellow; iris bright orange; with an oblique bright red orange stripe from nape to upper lip through eye; dorsal, anal, pelvic and caudal fins are with yellow to orange with distal deep black margin on fin membrane (Ref. 133035).
