Short description Claves de identificación | Morfología | Morfometría

This species is characterized by the following: two halves of the air bladder capsules are widely separated and connected by a manubrium; the free posterior chamber is well-developed, not encapsulated and more or less conical; lateral line complete; saddles on the back 5-6; supraorbital pores 12; caudal-fin lobes equal; body depth 17.0-19.0% SL; dorsal head length 19.0-20.0 % SL; pectoral-fin length 18-19 % SL; snout 46.9-50.6 % HL; basicaudal bar complete, prominent, dark-brown bars with black spots at top and bottom of the base. In males, the first branched pectoral-fin ray is rigid, about twice the width of the second, branched once, no membrane between branches except near the tip; the second branched ray is longest, branched once; other branched rays are branched three times; a wide, thickened unculiferous pad on the dorsal surface of pectoral-fin rays, covered by small conical tubercles, prominent on the inner edges of first branched ray, with similar tubercles of lesser number in other branched rays; suborbital flap, with distal tip broadly cut square, with small tubercles along its anterior and posterior edges; these modifications are absent in females (Ref. 132199).
