Etymology: grummorum: Named for the well-known investigators of Central Asia, the brothers G.E. and M.E. Grumm-Grzhimailo, who collected the type exemplars.
Eponymy: Dr Sven Anders Hedin (1865–1952) was the much-honoured foremost explorer of eastern Europe and Asia in his day, as well as a writer, illustrator, geographer and photographer. developed rostrum; pelvic fins located anteriorly from the vertical through the origin of the dorsal fin; approximately ten gill rakers on the first branchial arch; lateral line incomplete; black longitudinal band along the middle part of the body; small lobes of the bony capsule of the swim bladder, the lobes connected by the moderately developing manubrium; and lacking epural (Ref. 85843).
