Etymology: Priolepis: Greek, prio = to saw + Greek,lepis = scale (Ref. 45335); goldshmidtae: Named after Ms. Orit Goldshmidt, who collected the type specimens.
Eponymy: Ms Orit Goldshmidt was at the Interuniversity Institute of Marine Sciences, Eilat, Israel. She collected the goby holotype in the northern Gulf of Aqaba. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Body red with 4-5 narrow, backward directed light bars, a wide vertical bar in front of first dorsal fin and 3 forward directed bars on head.
