Eponymy: Durin the Deathless, eldest of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. The allusion is to the small size of species in this subgenus. Dr Alberto Perugia (1847–1897) was an Italian ichthyologist at the Civic Museum of Natural History in Genoa. He wrote: Descrizione di due nuove specie di Pesci raccolti in Sarawak dai Sig. G.
