Ecology
Marine; benthopelagic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243). Temperate; 19°S - 62°S, 70°W - 180°E
Generally ranges between the Subtropical Convergence and the Antarctic Polar Front (Atlantic Sector to south of Australia/New Zealand), but with northern extensions in eastern boundary currents; absent in the sub-Antarctic region of the Pacific. There is a beach-washed specimen from Port Alfred, South Africa (Ref. 4066). Also found in Argentina (Ref. 86326) and Uruguay (Ref. 54736).

Max length : 14.6 cm SL male/unsexed; (Ref. 5182)
Oceanic (Ref. 4066). Also mesopelagic. Occurs at depths below 100 m at night. Recorded from the stomach contents of Dissostichus eleginoides.
