Inhabits stationary and sheltered waters of rivers (Ref. 4833). Found under the surface in still waters, mainly coastal and often brackish, especially where there is surface vegetation or cover, such as mangrove swamps and rice fields. Swims slowly or stays stationary, often in small groups. Feeds on insects, larvae and fish fry. Valuable for mosquito control (Ref. 6028). Not a seasonal killifish.
