Adults inhabit lakes, often solitary (Ref. 86760). Feed mainly on shrimps (Ref. 30769). Females brood their young in the mouth (Ref. 86760).
Eggs from the cleavage phase and larvae of up to 0.89 cm TL are mouthbrooded by male and female parents ranging from 6.7 to 7.0 cm SL (Ref. 86760).
