Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal soft rays: 18 - 19; Vertebrae: 33. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: presence of a single, vertically elongated humeral spot; absence of any distinct blotch at the caudal peduncle or caudal fin; absence of a characteristic black oblique line at anal fin; absence of the longitudinal series of dark blotches on body; 18-19 branched anal-fin rays; dorsal half of body blue or green and the ventral half of body reddish, more intense above the anal fin (Ref. 137761).
