Africa: endemic to Lake Mweru (Ref. 26626, 122085). Reports from other parts of Congo River in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 82324, 82335, 106245) and Zambia (Ref. 246, 27609) are either unconfirmed or questionable, or belong to other species (Ref. 26626, 106290).
