Known from the middle Mekong basin in Thailand as Tetraodon palustris; lives in marshes and swamps with clear and stagnant water in places with many aquatic plants. From aquarium study, they were observed to spent much of the time hidden among roots and in dense clumps of submerged plants. Diet in captivity was mainly juvenile fishes, including Nile Tilapia Oreochromis niloticus, and cyprinids, Barbonymus gonionotus, Cirrhinus siamensis and Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (Ref. 93844).

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5001   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01000 (0.00244 - 0.04107), b=3.04 (2.81 - 3.27), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.2 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Alto, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione meno di 15 mesi (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
