Description synthétique Clés d'identification | Morphologie | Morphométrie

Épines dorsales (Total) : 2; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 7; Épines anales: 1; Rayons mous anaux: 5. Distinguished from all congeners by having bars on the body; and from all examined Pseudancistrus except Pseudancistrus genisetiger and Pseudancistrus papariae by having an incomplete mid-dorsal plate row with 18 plates ( vs. complete with 21-25 plates). Differs from one specimen of Pseudancistrus genisetiger and the holotype of Pseudancistrus papariae by the presence of 18 continuous plates (vs. mid-dorsal row with 14 plates, then a break around the adipose fin and then 2 more plates at the posterior end of the caudal peduncle. Another specimen of Pseudancistrus papariae with complete mid-dorsal row, but plate rows not examined (Ref. 75198).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated.

Biologie     Glossaire (ex. epibenthic)

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Found in water tea-colored river with low conductivity (12 µmho/cm), visibility ~ 2m and moderate current (Ref. 75198).
