Head and body without any markings; blackish-brown when alive and in spirits (Ref. 43239); characterized further by absence of scales; complete pelvic fin frenum and basal membrane; depth of body at level of pelvic fins 2.8-3.1 in SL (Ref. 90102).

Facultative air-breathing (Ref. 126274); A coral-commensal species (Ref. 72446). Found among Acopora coral branches, often A.millepora and A.nasuta, also with other species of Gobiodon (Ref 90102).
