Etymology: Ctenogobius: Greek, kteis, ktenos = comb + Latin, gobius = gudgeon (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Tsunekichi Fukushima was one of Mori’s ‘military guards’ who was honoured for his ‘most faithful services’ rendered during Mori’s expedition to Jehol (now called Chengde), Hebei Province, China, the type locality. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
