Etymology: Stichaeus: Greek, stix, -ichos = row (Ref. 45335).

Issue
Provisionally valid species. Require a morphological and molecular genetic analysis including additional specimens from multiple regions within the distribution to separate it from Stichaeus punctatus (Fabricius 1780) (Ref. 114903, where it is maintained as a subspecies for the reasons above).
