Etymology: Schistura: Greek, schizein = to divide + Greek, oura = tail; an allusion to forked caudal fins (Ref. 45335); bachmaensis: Named after the Bach Ma National Park where the River Thua Luu has its source.

เงี่ยงครีบหลัง (รวม) : 0; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่หาง (รวม) : 13; เงี่ยงครีบก้น: 0; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่ก้น: 9. Body with 12-15 dark bars, regularly shaped and set; complete black bar at caudal base reaching dorsal and ventral midlines; complete lateral line; processus dentiformis slender; axillary pelvic lobe not reduced; pelvic fin situated vertical to first branched dorsal-fin ray; body elongated and head depressed; small median incision in upper lip (Ref. 40772).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
Found in a stream with fast running water. Associated with Poropuntius deauratus (Cyprinidae), Pterocryptis cochinchinensis (Siluridae), and Schistura spiloptera. Apparently very rare.
