Etymology: Fundulopanchax: Latin, fundus = bottom; a peculiar name for a topminnow, coined for a bottom species of Atlantic coast being "the abode of the fundulus mudfish" + Greek, soma = body.

Issue
Aphyosemion kribianum Radda, 1975 is considered as valid as Fundulopanchax kribianus (Radda, 1975) in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. 30 Apr. 2013: Ref. 93382) following Malumbres & Castelo (2001: Ref. 44365). Please send references or more studies are needed.

Occurs in swamps and swampy parts of brooks in the humid coastal rainforest (Ref. 3788). Bottom spawner, 2 months incubation. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139). Omnivorous and egg-layer (Ref. 31267).
