Etymology: Arnoldichthys: Because of Johann Pane Arnold, born in Germany, 1869-1952 (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Johann Paul Arnold (1869–1952) was a German aquarist in Hamburg. He sent specimens to Boulenger for study and identification. He co-wrote: The alien freshwater fish (1936). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal.
Feeds on worms, insects and crustaceans. In aquaria, female lays up to 1000 eggs, after vigorous driving by the male, which hatch in 30 to 34 hours (Ref. 7020). Aquarium keeping: in groups of 5 or more individuals; minimum aquarium size 100 cm (Ref. 51150).
