Eastern Atlantic: Morocco south to Angola. Western Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and western central Atlantic close to the Bahamas and Antilles from 30°-20°N between 24°-47°W. One specimen collected off the Guianas (Ref. 13608).

ຄີຫຼັງຂອງປາ (ຄີອ່ອນ) (ທັງໝົດ) : 18 - 21; ຄີກົ້ນຂອງປາ: 13 - 15. Body moderately elongate and slender. Chin barbel about half head length. Tip of barbel slightly swollen. Maxillary teeth are comblike and closely spaced. Photophores small, not broken in small groups. Luminous patches developed on operculum and nostrils. Dark color (Ref. 37039).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated.
Found on island or continental slopes (Ref. 2802). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
