Etymology: Aulonocara: Greek, aulos = flute + Greek, kara = face, head (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Steven Longwe is a fisherman at Salima, Malawi, who cooperated with the author and supplied him with the species. He is honoured in the name but the original etymology tells us nothing more about him. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
