Diagnosis: deeper bodied than D. kiwinge; premaxillary pedicel rather prominent, giving the dorsal head profile a more concave appearance above the eye (Ref. 55954).
Encountered usually in shallow water in vegetated and sandy areas. Swims in midwater. Feeds on small fish (such as juvenile Utaka) and invertebrates (Ref. 5595).
