Etymology: Trichomycterus: Greek, thrix = hair + Greek, mykter, -eros = nose (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Colonel M A Chilton was the military attaché of the American Embassy in Santiago de Chile. He accompanied Eigenmann on his tour of the ‘Switzerland of Chile’ (i.e., Chilean Lake District, southern Chile). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
