Etymology: Hoplichthys: Greek, hoplon = weapon + Greek,ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335). More on author: Fowler.
The genus Monhoplichthys have no status in Eschmeyer (CofF ver. Jan. 2017) and the species is placed there in Hoplichthys. Please send references, or more studies are needed.
