Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

This species is currently known only from the type locality, about 80 km southwest of the town of Kaimana, West Papua Province, Indonesia. The type specimens were obtained from two separate colonies in 13-25 m, wherein each occupy about 50-100 sq. m and containing approximately 50-100 eels. The gently sloped bottom consisted of clean white sand and was more than 200 m from the nearest reef habitat (Ref. 121836).
