Dorsal spines (total): 3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 5; Vertebrae: 31 - 32. Body somewhat compressed (Ref. 53378). Predorsal profile convex with a noticeable nuchal hump (Ref. 53378). Eyes inclined noticeably upwards (Ref. 53378). Mouth relatively small, subterminal (Ref. 53378). Barbels are absent (Ref. 53378). Last simple dorsal ray smooth and flexible (Ref. 53378). The tip of the pectoral fin is falling short of the pelvic-fin origin (Ref. 53378). Caudal peduncle relatively elongated, 1.4 to 1.7 times as long as deep (Ref. 53378). Scales radially striated (Ref. 53378): 22-25 lateral-line scales, 3½ scales between the lateral line and dorsal-fin origin, 3½ to 4½ scales between lateral line and mid-ventral line in front of the pelvic-fin origin, 2 scales between the lateral line and pelvic-fin origin, and 9 to 10 scales around caudal peduncle (Ref. 53378). The color in living specimens is generally pale silvery, the caudal fin tinged with pink (Ref. 53378).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01230 (0.00558 - 0.02710), b=2.97 (2.80 - 3.14), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this Genus-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.0   ±0.3 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
