Anal
soft rays: 14 - 18;
Vertebrae: 36. Devario annnataliae differs from all its congeners in Sri Lanka by the combination of following characters: body depth 24-27 %SL; snout length equal to or greater than eye diameter; color pattern consisting of 5 or 6 irregular, dark blue vertical bars on anterior half of body; P stripe, originating just anterior to dorsal-fin origin; 16-17 predorsal scales; dorsal fin with 10½ branched rays; anal fin with 11½-14½ branched rays; a minute process on first infraorbital; presence of danionin notch; origin of dorsal fin to hypural distance, when carried forward, falling well short of posterior border of eye; pectoral fin, when adpressed, just reaching origin of pelvic fin (Ref. 118056).
Inhabits torrents close to the foot of Brahmana Ella waterfall (Ref. 118056).
