Etymology: Bathyaethiops: Greek, bathys = deep + Greek, Aethiopia, an African country (Ref. 45335).

Africa: lower Lulua drainage (Kasai system, middle Congo River basin) in Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ref. 42032, 110423). Also reported from the Bomu (Ubangi drainage, middle Congo River basin) in Central African Republic (Ref. 110423).
