Etymology: Astyanacinus: Derived from the name of Astyanax, Hector´s son in the Greek mithology (Ref. 45335).
Issue
Ruiz et al., 2018 (Ref. 119406:19) revision's placement of Astyanacinus multidens Pearson, 1924 to the genus Astyanax relegates it to the status of a junior secondary homonym of Astyanax multidens Eigenmann, 1908. Thus, it is proposed that Astyanax bopiensis nom. nov. replacement name, is used following rules established in Article 59 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN 1999).
