Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-10; Anal soft rays: 20 - 22. Distinguished from all other members of the family by the combination of the following characters: jaws subequal, 20-22 anal fin rays, eye diameter about equal to snout length, 33-35% HL, 58-65 scales in lateral row, 8-10 branched dorsal rays (Ref. 26747).
