Marine; bathypelagic; depth range 200 - 1350 m (Ref. 26074), usually 200 - 600 m (Ref. 26074). Deep-water; 55°N - 17°S, 19°W - 16°E
Eastern Atlantic: southern Ireland to Angola; penetrated the Strait of Gibraltar without establishing widespread or abundant populations in the Mediterranean Sea. Reported from the Canary Islands (Ref. 5304), Sicily and Corsica (Ref. 4710).
