Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal soft rays: 5. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: long mandibular barbel, reaching anterior margin of opercle; atrophied eyes, highly reduced in size in juveniles and small-adults and absence of externally visible eyes in adults; complete absence of pigmentation; long pectoral-fin reaching anterior base of pelvic fin; distinct scalation pattern with 28+2 (2) or 31+1 (1) lateral line scales, 8 scales in transverse series with 4 above the lateral line and 3 below the lateral linel; pre-pelvic length 47.8-49.4, caudal-peduncle length 16.1–16.8 and shorter dorsal-fin length 17.4-20.8 (Ref. 128388).

This species inhabits a cave with floor composed predominantly of bedrock, boulders, and coarse gravel mostly well above water level. Debris such as forest vegetation were also collected along the floor, indicating seasonally flooded in the area (Ref. 128388).
