Ecology
Marine; pelagic-oceanic; oceanodromous (Ref. 51243); depth range 96 - ? m (Ref. 58018). Deep-water; 46°S - 67°S
Circumglobal between the Subtropical Convergence and the Antarctic Polar Front, with northern boundary correlated with the 5°C isotherm at 200 m. Southern Ocean: all three ocean sectors.

High-oceanic and mesopelagic; found in the upper 100 m at night (Ref. 4066). Possibly fed on by Champsocephalus gunnari. Matures at about 4.5 cm SL.
