Belongs to the Oreoglanis siamensis species group as it possesses a distinct median notch on the posterior margin of the lower lip. Can be distinguished from other members of the genus by the combination of the following characters: nasal barbel reaching to anterior margin of orbit, maxillary barbel with pointed tip, and pectoral fins not reaching pelvic-fin origin (Ref. 83406).
