Etymology: Placidochromis: Latin, placidus = of peaceful or tranquile appearance + Greek, chromis = a fish, perhaps a perch (Ref. 45335); acuticeps: From the Latin "acutus" = sharp, pointed, and the suffix "-ceps" = head, referring to its angular, pointed head shape (Ref. 55898).
