soft rays: 41 - 46. Distinguished by the following: serrated frontal crest with united, bur slightly emarginate pelvic fins; total elements in dorsal fin 53-57; total elements in anal fin 41-46, pectoral-fin rays 14-17; pelvic-fin rays I, 3-5; anal-fin pterygiophores preceding the first hemal spine (AP) 3-4; caudal vertebral count 23-25; longitudinal scale rows 48-66 (Ref. 078624).
This species was collected at depths of 62-65 in the Arafura Sea and 50-70 m from the Samar Sea; possible that this species may be confined to deeper waters than most other members of this subfamily (Ref. 78624).
