Marine; demersal; depth range 3 - 90 m (Ref. 117245), usually 9 - 15 m (Ref. 4695). Temperate; 82°N - 63°N, 35°E - 94°W (Ref. 117245)
Arctic: White Sea and southern parts of the Kara Sea; Laptev Sea, Novosiberian Isles, near the mouth of the Kolyma River, Chukchi Sea and near Herschel Island in the Beaufort Sea.

Found on shallow, inshore soft bottoms, mostly in brackish waters with salinities of about 15-27 ppt. (Ref. 4695). Benthic (Ref. 58426). Feeds on isopods, bivalves, polychaetes (Ref. 4695).
