Body depth about equal to head length; mouth narrow and subterminal; 2 pairs barbels, longer than orbit; eye diameter 4 to 4.8 times in head; dorsal spine strong and serrated, its denticles weak and recurved; scales small, 46 or 47 in longitudinal series, transverse scale-rows 9/8; circumferential scales 34; anal scales 2 (Ref. 4832).
