Asia: Endemic to Siberia. Known from the Ob to the Yana rivers.

Never enters the sea (Ref. 26334, 593). Spawning occurs in September and October (water temperature 4-8°C). Maturity is attained in second or third year of life. Both migratory and non-migratory populations exist. (Ref. 593).
