Freshwater; benthopelagic. Tropical; 24°C - 28°C (Ref. 2059); 11°S - 19°S
Africa: Cuanza and Bengo basins in Angola (Ref. 11970), entire Congo River basin and Okavango, Zambezi, and Kafue systems (Ref. 52193). Present in the Koki River (Tanganyika tributary) (Ref. 36901). Also reported from the Gribingui (Lake Tchad basin) (Ref. 83569), but this needs confirmation.
