Diagnosis: mouth subterminal; lips weakly or moderately developed, very thick, lower lip with a mental lobe; two pairs of well-developed barbels, anterior pair shorter than posterior pair, the latter measuring 0.67x eye diameter; lower jaw not reaching to anterior margin of eye; 27-31 scales in lateral line; last simple ray of dorsal fin strong and ossified, not serrated, measuring at the most equal to head length; snout 2.5x HL; length of caudal peduncle 2x its height (Ref. 81639).
