Diagnosis

Mogurnda arguni is distinguished by the following combination of characters: 11 or 12 soft dorsal rays; 10-13 (rarely 10 or 13) soft anal rays; 15-16 pectoral rays; 36-40 scales in lateral series; 17-22 predorsal scales; usually 9 lower limb gill rakers; snout profile straight to slightly convex; pelvic-fin length 21.0-24.2% SL; caudal-fin length 26.5-29.1% SL; and young specimens with series of 10 dark bars on side while adults generally darker with less vivid bars (Ref. 95614).
