10-13 AO photophores; 7.5-8 tooth patches on the lower limb of the second gill arch; 32-34 lateral line organs (Ref. 36121). Pectoral fin rays pointing directly downward in larger specimens; rays progressively thicker, stiffer, and relatively shorter in larger specimens but remnants always visible externally, apparently not covered with skin even in specimens 9-10 cm SL in length (Ref. 36121).
