Distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D 11 (ii + I-II + 7-8), A 9 (ii + II + 5); P 5 (I + 4); caudal fin rounded, principal caudal-fin rays 13 (I + 11 + I); ribs 16; 7 branchiostegal rays; fewer teeth in the premaxilla; 31-34 dentary; a long sesamoid supraorbital, longer than the autopalatine; 7.6-9.1 % SL pectoral-fin length; shorter space between orbit and anterior nostril; 18 dorsal procurrent caudal-fin rays; 39-40 vertebrae; the dorsal-fin origin in a vertical through the centrum of the 21st vertebra; 13-15 opercular and 30-35 interopercular odontodes; 13.0-15.2 % SL caudal fin length. Colouration (in alcohol): Pale yellowish grey flank, dorsuma nd head side; spots irregularly arranged; yellowish white ventral part of flank; drak grey barbels; fins hyaline with grey rays on basal area (Ref. 129458). |
