Known only from the upper Rio Verde and the Laguna de la Media Luna system of the Rio Panuco basin in San Luis Potosi (Ref. 36377). Flourishes best in the region of Laguna Media Luna. Unfortunately, the runoff of the various pesticides and herbicides from surrounding community is polluting this small unique system. Utilized as an aquarium fish (Ref. 6398). Also Ref. 6376, 7335.
