Known from Gilbert, Phoenix (common at Baker and Howland), and Line (common at Palmyra and Jarvis, also in Tabuaeran, Fanning I.) islands. Small rapidly moving schools were observed in moderately rough water, in broad shallow surge channels on the lee side of Onotoa Atoll (Ref. 42056).
