Introduced in Tana River (Ref. 52331), Lake Naivasha (Ref. 52331) and upper reaches of Athi River (Ref. 30558). It is introduced from Uganda to Kenya in 1969 for aquaculture (Ref. 52331), and has invaded dams and some parts of rivers where it replaced indigenous tilapias as dominant species (Ref. 52331). Also Ref. 1739, Ref. 12228.
