Origin of introduced specimens unknown; at least data from Ref. 13296 probably applies to O. mweruensis, based on the star-shaped nest shown in plate 18. Introduced in 1951 (Ref. 13296, 13333) or 1955 (Ref. 1739, 9527). Introduced to Lakes Itasy (Ref. 354, 356, 13296, 27445) and Alaotra (Ref. 354, 356, 9527, 13296, 27445) in 1958, but apparently disappeared from the former in 1972 (Ref. 356, 27445). Also introduced to Lake Mantasoa, in 1952, but without succes (Ref. 356), and to the Majunga area (including Lake Kinkony) and the Antsirabe area (Ref. 13296). |
