Type locality, Lingshui River, Baoting (Ref. 50838). Previously thought to be endemic to Hainan Island, but has also been recorded in the mainland of southern China; known from Taiyang river and Lingshui river of Hainan Province (Ref. 45323). Collected along the coastal region of Guangdong Province (Ref. 86585).

Status of threat: Endangered in China and has been placed in the "China Species Red List" (Ref. 82695).
