Etymology: Cambeva: Probably derived from the Tupi-Guarani, is a popular name for trichomycterid fishes in southern and south-eastern Brazil (Ref. 119381); botuvera: The species epithet is an allusion to the occurrence in the municipality of Botuvera; name derived from the Tupi-Guarani, possibly means billiant mountain (Ref. 123709).
