Rayons mous dorsaux (Total): 10; Rayons mous anaux: 35 - 36. Distinguished from other species of Cyanocharax by the large number of branched anal-fin rays (31-32 in the syntypes and 28-35, mostly 29-33) and the convex profile of the anal fin (Ref. 54760).
